Congratulations to me! I have reach a major milestone today, and I have to admit I am pretty chuffed about it. As of today, I have blogged every day for the entire month of January. I don’t think I have ever blogged for more than 3 or 4 day in a row in my life. To think when I started this journey, I had no intention of blogging every day. Even the morning of January 1st, it wasn’t even in my mind to blog every day all year-long, but something happened in that afternoon that just made me decide to do it.
This is not to say I didn’t have the desire to do it, I did. I was just never successful at making it a priority, and thus never made the time to do it. And even when I tried to make it a priority, I was hamstrung with trying to be perfect instead of just letting myself be less than perfect so I can actually just publish.
Then Desk, and more specifically the community around it, came along and a challenge was laid before me that I decided to accept out of the clear blue. First it started with the Daily Writing section of the community site that was goading me into writing daily. And then it was the 10 Days to a better blog challenge that I decided to take up.
And then something awesome happened. I started getting responses in the community to my daily writing, and then to add to that coolness, I started getting comments on my posts and replies to my post tweets where what I was saying was resonating with people. It was fantastic, and drove me to write even more. I mean I have even written a couple of posts this month completely on my phone!
And so, I have found it easier than I expected to keep pace and even get ahead of schedule on my personal blog. I am really starting to believe that I can meet my commitment to post every single day of 2015. I want to thank John Saddington, the creator of Desk and the community that is built around Desk for being an encouraging and happy group to spur me on further.
All that said, I have a long way to go. 11 months more of posting, and then who knows. I can’t imagine stopping at that point as I am already at the point of discomfort if I wait until the end of the day to do my writing. I am getting to the point where the writing is almost calming and I really enjoy the process. So onwards and upwards we go.
Wish me luck in my writing journey, and if you would like to experience the same, I would invite you to pop over to the Desk community and check things out.
