Congratulations to me! I have reach a major milestone today, and I have to admit I am pretty chuffed about it. As of today, I have blogged every day for the entire month of January. I don’t think I have ever blogged for more than 3 or 4 day in a row in my life. To think when I started this journey, I had no intention of blogging every day. Even the morning of January 1st, it wasn’t even in my mind to blog every day all year-long, but something happened in that afternoon that just made me … [Read more...] about 31 Days Of Publishing

MongoDB addUser Not Working
I am in the beginning stages of getting familiar with MongoDB as I will be using it in some near future projects. I have been curious about it for a while, particularly since it seems to buck the idea of your standard data constraint requirements. Back in my day (yup, I think that statement qualifies me for being old), my college courses always taught that 3NF (3rd Normal Form) was the only way. Then I started hearing about a new way for certain data scenarios. … [Read more...] about MongoDB addUser Not Working
Projects Die
Regardless of the industry you work in, there is a good chance you were assigned a project to complete. As is typical with projects there was probably a planning phase, an implementation phase, and lastly a delivery to a customer or just for your own department. As a software developer, I am very project based and am charged with either taking the project from inception to delivery or leading a team through the same phases. Projects have a way of making their way to this delivery phase … [Read more...] about Projects Die
Make Publishing Easier Today
That title sounds an awful like a sales pitch doesn’t it? I mean, if you read it the way I did with a used car salesman’s voice echoing in your head. Or maybe it is more of a “Sold on T.V.” advertisement title. Either way, it makes it sound like I have found a way to make your ability to publish more often and with more consistency, easier. And in a way I have. Okay, maybe I haven’t personally found it, but I am going to be the one that broadcasts it. And if you call in the next twenty … [Read more...] about Make Publishing Easier Today
Go Back and Read Old Posts
With all my talk and bluster about a publishing imperfect posts, it is possible that some mistakes may have made it out the door and landed on your homepage. I would never want you to stop publishing by getting bogged down again with attempts at perfection. But at the same time, the whole thing is based on the idea that you will, over time and repetition, get to being a better writer with each post. How do we do that? … [Read more...] about Go Back and Read Old Posts
Getting Back Into Routine
Today has been my first full day back from my long weekend at the Rolex 24 hour race at Daytona International Speedway. I took my son, had a friend fly in and roll with us, and had my brother meet us at the track for our camping and racing extravaganza. This is the 7th year my brother and I have attended, and we have camped at some level every single year. This year was no different, and we kicked things up a notch by the three of us splitting the cost of an RV rental for the race. The … [Read more...] about Getting Back Into Routine
Cars Are My Thing
This is the first in a series of posts I am going to do that focuses on me. Not to be selfish or self-centered, but to fill out my “About Me” page with a more robust set of information than what I have today. It is also a way for me to keep the area current and in a way track my ever-changing interests. … [Read more...] about Cars Are My Thing
Smell The Roses at 200 MPH
Life is a competition. More definitively, it is a series of competitions. The competition comes in many forms, and is often a very personal thing. This week I am attending the Rolex 24 at the Daytona International Speedway. Obviously this is a competition between the drivers and their respective teams, and it makes a great spectator sport. But for those racing, and those of us merely spectating, there is more to this weekend than just who holds the trophy at the end of the weekend. … [Read more...] about Smell The Roses at 200 MPH
Publish What You Can
Sometimes life gets busy. We all know this. But that doesn't have to stop you from achieving your goals. Right now I am endeavoring to publish a post every single day of 2015. This is a formidable challenge and something I am learning to truly love and embrace. … [Read more...] about Publish What You Can
Thanks Desk PM
One of the things people love about being involved with something, as I have been with Desk App, is that sometimes you get a little swag out of the deal. It helps create a community feeling and serves as a badge of inclusion. Whatever, I just freaking love swag, I can’t help it. I am not really a horder, or a big time collector of anything, but I can always use a little more swag in my life. So, when John sent out some decals in a unique way, I had to participate. I didn’t just receive the … [Read more...] about Thanks Desk PM
