I am overweight. I don’t mean a little bit, I mean a lot. I haven’t always been this way. In fact, when I got married at the ripe old age of 18 to my highschool sweetheart, I was 5’11” and 145lbs soaking wet. I was working at the airport at the time in various jobs, all with a focus on slinging luggage and quickly bulked up to 175lbs. This bulk was complete with a nice set of biceps and 6-ish pack abs. And then, around the age of 21 I finally got my first office job in the software industry, and thus began a process of weight gain that has seen me put on over 100lbs. Today is the final day of the Desk, 5 Days to More Engaging Content workshop. As someone who has struggled to use images without getting bogged down in my search of the perfect image, this workshop has certainly provided a lot of information that I will be using moving forward. Today’s challenge specifically was to use an animated gif or emoticon in our post. I figured this would be a great time to get a bit more specific about me and to add to my “about me” series which you can find on, you guessed it, my “About” page. Continue reading “Porsche Cars Are Really My Thing”
I am currently in the process of starting a company to run my freelancing through and as is typical, I am starting to put to together the marketing. This includes the all important company logo. Now I know people love to do their logo first before almost anything, but it seems to me that the logo of your company, while very important, is something that in the initial stages you can take your time with. And that is the path I am taking with the design of our logo for Presstronic Studios LLC. I am doing other organizational items first, and only now starting, just starting, to brainstorm about my logo. Continue reading “Logo Design”
One of the many blessings I have in my life is an awesome brother, who would give you the shirt off his back in a snowstorm. We have a great realtionship, but do to a bit of georgraphical distance don’t get to see each other that much. One thing we do every year to at least get some time in together is to attend the 24 Hour Rolex race at Daytona International Speedway each year. As an added benefit, he works for a company involved with the automotive industry and can sometimes get us a little extra access to the race such as the pit area.
How often do you find yourself pondering “what-if” scenarios? I do this quite often. I try to make a point of stepping back from a situation and look at things from a different perspective. I am not always successful in remembering to do this, and even when I am, I don’t always glean some new thought from it. Even when your changed perspective doesn’t show you something new, listening to others who may also have a different perspective, can provide some profound insights. To provide a bit of a warning, this post is a bit on the grim side of things, but bear with me. Continue reading “Walkie Talkie Wins The War”
If you haven’t heard yet, there is a new Desk community writing challenge running that has started just today. For me it is interesting because involves the use of images in my posts. If you have read my posts over the last month you may have read that I have eschewed the regular use of featured images as it was a reason I have had trouble publishing in the past. This is why the current 5 day challenge interests me. I am hoping to learn from others who are smarter than me about easily using images in your posts. So, todays assignment is to use a photo that I have taken myself. Continue reading “Racing Is Beautiful”
Isn’t it funny how an idea can snowball into something very real, especially between friends? Sometimes those ideas can turn into something more along the lines of a friendly wager. You may not even be sure how that wager really happened, yet there you are claiming you can do something, you never really wanted to do. And that is where I found myself a long while back when discussing my love of eating meat. Truly, in my mind you can keep your chocolates and other sweets and give me fine stinky cheeses and cased and cured meats. Continue reading “Vegetarian for 30 Days”
I am not a big fan of talking exclusively about myself, but I have set out a task to create a more robust About Me page by actually making it a blog series. This way I figure it will always be fairly current, as well as an archive of all the things that have made me who I am. What I am a big fan of is, sports. At some level I love just about all sports, even the sports I claim to hate. I figured today would be a great day to go “on prompt” with the Desk Community Daily Post and write about what I am doing this day of NFL Super Bowl XLIX and maybe my feelings of sports in general.
